The structural and aesthetic properties of UK-grown hardwoods will be discussed during a free seminar hosted by Napier University‘s Centre for Timber Engineering (CTE) in association with the Forestry Commission.
The half-day event on March 22, to be held at Alice Holt Lodge in Farnham, is aimed at architects, specifiers, engineers and others involved in using timber in their designs.
Seminar topics to be covered include hardwood properties and construction applications, an appearance grading system, successful sourcing and architectural exemplars.
Speakers will include TRADA president and Arup consultant Peter Ross, CTE research fellow Ivor Davies, a sawmilling industry representative and Peter Wilson, director of Napier’s Manifesto Architecture Research Centre.
