The Naturally Wood initiative, which aims to raise awarenss of timber’s environmental and technical attributes, has been launched in Belfast.

The Northern Ireland event was the latest in a series across the UK intended to increase the appreciation of wood by building specifiers and professionals. It also coincided with the launch of the Confederation of Forest Industries, the successor organisation to the Forestry Industries Development Council and main body behind Naturally Wood.

Northern Ireland farm minister Ian Pearson said the Naturally Wood strategy links the production of timber from well-managed forests through primary processors to retailers, specifiers and professionals.

“The development of this strategy illustrates how the sector can contribute to the wider agenda of sustainable development here in Northern Ireland, throughout the UK and abroad.”
