The North East Timber Trade Association (NETTA) has launched what it believes to be the first online search engine for timber shipping marks.
NETTA chairman Edward Bennett said the new tool, which is part of the organisation’s main website (www.netta.org), will be “a fantastic benefit” to members.
“It will enable them to identify the country of origin and the grade of the piece of timber they are trying to establish a match for,” he said.
All NETTA members have full access to the site and the shipping marks pages, while non-members have three free visits before being locked out.
“We believe that what we are offering to the trade is value for money and could also help non-members look at The Timber Trade Federation in a more positive way,” said Mr Bennett.
He added that the list was not comprehensive as yet and said NETTA welcomed input from shippers and agents who would like their shipping marks included.
