Forest products will be among the cargoes carried on a new ro ro service between the Port of Blyth and the eastern Mediterranean.

The monthly service, the first direct ro ro link between the eastern Mediterranean and northern Britain, will be operated by Van Uden Maritime BV of Holland.

Three ro ro vessels will call at Piraeus, Beirut, Limassol, Alexandria, Mersin and Lattakia.

UK general agents Baldan Ltd will accept project/heavy lifts and conventional cargoes moved by forklifts. Forest products and other conventional cargoes will be carried from Moerdijk, Holland, to Blyth on return legs.
