Stewart Milne Timber Systems, one of the UK’s largest timber frame manufacturers, has appointed Ron Easton as its new managing director.

Mr Easton joins from rival Robertson Timberkit, where he was executive chairman.

In his new role, Mr Easton will oversee the company’s operations nationwide, leading a team focused on “pioneering” initiatives, particularly in the area of sustainability, as well as growing its market position.

“As the housing market recovers, speed of build, sustainability, factory-built quality and cost will all be highly significant features for our clients and timber frame is the ideal solution,” he said.

Mr Easton, a qualified accountant, has experience across a range of sectors including fast-moving consumer goods, consulting, aerospace, pharmaceutical and IT.

Stewart Milne Timber Systems’ two factories at Witney and Aberdeen have a 12,000-unit capacity.

The company is preparing to roll out its Sigma II closed panel building system, an initiative designed to bring low carbon homes to the mass market.
