Accsys Technologies, which produces Accoya modified wood, has appointed Patrick Shanley as a non-executive director.

Mr Shanley has extensive boardroom experience in the chemical sector, having previously been chief financial officer of Courtaulds plc and Acordis BV, and chief executive officer of Corsadi BV.

He is currently chairman of Corsadi BV and Cordenka Investments BV, the two remaining Acordis operating entities controlled by CVC Capital Partners. His previous directorships include positions at Linpac Group Ltd and Novaceta UK Ltd.

Accsys chairman Gordon Campbell said Mr Shanley’s knowledge of the chemicals industry would add considerable value to the board, given the importance of acetyls in Accsys’s proprietary wood and wood fibre acetylation processes.

The new appointment coincides with Kevin Wood’s resignation as a non-executive director.

Accsys CEO Paul Clegg said the company was grateful for Mr Wood’s support since stepping down as chief finance officer in April. “This has ensured a smooth transition to our new CFO, Hans Pauli,” he said.
