Mr Wood, who was most recently at Westbury Windows & Joinery, said he was delighted to “buy into” Lomax+Wood Ltd with a 25% share.

Three Ambass-A-Door directors, including founder David Lomax, have each taken a 25% share in the business.

The company’s new name promotes the Lomax and Wood families, who have together been involved in the supply of high-quality timber windows and doors for about 60 years.

The website www.lomaxwood.co.uk has been created and an Essex office and showroom at Ingatestone will open in the autumn. The head office and showroom is in South Kensington.

Mr Wood said the idea of teaming up came after he visited the Ambass-A-Door stand at Ecobuild.

“My fellow directors understand that service and quality are essential in a mature timber window market, alongside clear and definite branding,” added Mr Wood.

“This opportunity will allow us to create a single fenestration and joinery brand, providing the architect, developer and discerning customer with single contact for all their bespoke joinery requirements.”

Ambass-A-Door said it had been looking for additional expertise to capitalise on the growing success of the company and was excited about the new phase for the business. It said Chris Wood and David Lomax were prominent names in the timber windows industry.

Lomax+Wood will focus on made-to-order timber sash windows, casements and doors to the commercial and consumer-based heritage markets. Other joinery products will be added in the future.
