The National House-Building Council has launched a timber frame construction course.
The new course has been formulated to help builders and developers who are considering timber frame construction in response to the government’s 2016 zero carbon target.
The one-day training course, Managing Timber Frame Construction, is aimed at managers overseeing timber frame projects up to four-storeys in height and will be held across the country in January and February 2008.
Delegates will learn about construction best practice, NHBC standards and the different management techniques needed for timber frame.
“Timber frame is a tried and tested method of construction for new homes but is different from traditional masonry construction,” said training services manager Rob Lockey.
“This difference means that site-based managers will need technical knowledge of design criteria which impact on construction, alongside an understanding of what can go wrong so they know where to focus their attention.
The course will start at Warrington on January 16 and go on to Birmingham (Jan 22), Bristol (Jan 23), Falkirk (Jan 24), Reading (Jan 29), Milton Keynes (Feb 7) and Dartford (Feb 13).
