Recent data from the US indicates that global exports of hardwood in 2012 from the US were up 4%, but exports to South-east Asia increased 25%.

This year’s convention hopes to match that of last year’s 115th annual gathering in Chicago, which was a success for the global hardwood industry, an NHLA spokesperson said.

"While tough market times was a frequent theme, most attendees agreed that the worst may now be over and with improving exports the future for the hardwood industry is brighter," he said.

The 2013 event will be held on October 2-4.
