Gainsborough-based HLD Ltd supplied the Antislip Plus decking for a raised outside area at the building, which houses Kew’s alpine plant collection.

Ekki was chosen for its high wear resistance, with boards incorporating resin-based arregate inserts. The inserts, coloured grey to blend in with the boards as they weather, were injected into the grooves of the castellation in the profiled deckboards.

“After visiting the site several times I was pleased to hear many visitors express their approval of the Antslip Plus deckboards,” said Ian Knight of contractor AA Knight. “It was noted that they provided safety while still blending into the overall design of the Alpine House to provide a safe and attractive visitor platform.”
