North Yorkshire Timber (NYT) has announced record-breaking monthly sales of £1.4m, thanks to increased trading across its seven outlets.

Sales and marketing director Nick Kershaw said that the sales figure, the biggest in the company’s 28-year history and surpassing the £1.2m monthly total set at the end of 2006, was the result of continued growth and investment in NYT’s product mix.

“We’re stocking more builders merchants products as well as timber so our customers can get all they need in one place,” said Mr Kershaw.

“Our core ranges of softwood carcassing, redwood, sawn and machined hardwood and softwood continue to sell extremely well but offering a wider range of timber and general building products has made the difference.”

Mr Kershaw added that the company was continuing to invest in its seven sites – Ripon, Richmond, Northallerton, Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Darlington, plus Co Durham-based builders merchant Ward and Naylor which NYT acquired last year – as part of a commitment to “providing excellent service, the quality of the product range and reliability on deliveries”.

NYT recently spent £100,000 at its Sunderland branch, trading as Joseph Thompson Timber, in order to enhance the centre and provide more storage and new customer parking facilities.
