Brian Ollier, a former managing director of Northwood Mills, died on January 10.
Mr Ollier joined the timber trade after leaving the Liverpool College of Commerce with a Diploma in Timber Technology.
After a period with Price & Pierce he joined Northwood Mills of Canada in 1970 as sales manager, progressing to become managing director at the company’s head office in Cardiff. During his career he travelled extensively throughout Canada and was highly respected there within the trade.
In the late 1980s Mr Ollier worked for Brandts before enjoying 10 fruitful years at AF & D Mackay Ltd. He retired in 2000.
A keen sportsman, he was a very good golfer who still had a single figure handicap well into retirement.
Mr Ollier leaves a son and daughter, his wife Lydia pre-deceasing him 10 years ago.
