The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) wants to work in partnership with the timber industry to deliver the venues and infrastructure needed for the London 2012 Olympics, ODA head of procurement Morag Stuart has said.
Ms Stuart, one of the key speakers at TRADA’s In Touch with Timber conference on May 20, said the ODA hoped working closely with the timber and construction industries would prove to be a “ground-breaking moment for sustainable sourcing”.
“We have already announced that we are setting up a dedicated Timber Supplier Panel to ensure that all timber used on the construction project is from fully traceable legal and sustainable sources. A framework for the responsible sourcing of timber is unprecedented for a project of this size and scale.”
In Touch with Timber, to be held at the Queen Elizabeth Conference Centre on May 20, is focusing on the opportunities and challenges presented by the Olympics to the timber industry.
