OFP Timber Frame came to the rescue in BBC1’s DIY SOS programme last week when it supplied and erected a timber frame extension for a 1940s prefab house.
The show’s presenter Nick Knowles and his team were transforming the house in Dartford for single mother Louise and her autistic son Thomas.
OFP, based in Sandwich, Kent, designed, supplied and erected a 7x5m flat-roof extension which houses the new kitchen. The building work using OFP’s open panel pre-insulated system, which comprises 140mm CLS studs, 9mm OSB board to the external face, a breather membrane on the outside with 75mm of solid insulation allowing a 40mm void for your services, was completed in six hours.
The whole transformation, which included reconfiguring the layout of the existing house and redeveloping the garden, took nine days.
“From designing to erecting on site was just two-and-a-half weeks,” said OFP director Neil Brennan.
The project was such a success for OFP that the company is already considering taking part in another.
“The day after the programme was aired we had 950 hits on our website – the highest number we’ve ever had in a day,” said Mr Brennan.
