Oregon Timber Frame has supplied one of its timber frame house systems for testing at Napier University’s Building Performance Assessment Centre (BPAC) at Glenrothes near Edinburgh.

The BPAC brings together industry and academics and key industry players and is managed by construction consultants C4Ci, which specialises in innovation and building performance. Its aim is to test existing construction product performance and develop and launch innovative products and processes.

“We have a serious interest in research and development and in bringing innovative processes to the market place, so we’re delighted to be involved in the BPAC,” said Oregon’s technical directro Robin Dodyk.

Most recently, he added, Oregon has been working on a research project with Napier University, looking at optimising hybrid racking panels, which has included a prize-winning project, on the performance of dowel-type fasteners to connect the timber sole plate to a concrete substrate in timber frame construction.
