The Nigerian government has announced that all solid wood packing materials (SWPM) going into the country must be heat treated, fumigated and certificated.
OT Africa Line has warned that any SWPM materials not conforming with International Plant Protection Convention approved guidelines after September 30 could result in consignee’s being fined and facing long delays in obtaining their cargo.
OT Africa Line has also warned that the Senegalese customs will not accept “general merchandise” as the cargo description on a bill of lading/cargo manifest. Full descriptions of the cargo are required and failure to comply could involve a fine.
