An Australian kit home builder has his sights set on exporting to one of the world’s largest markets – China.

RAL Homes managing director Reiny Loeliger is also in the running to supply the accommodation for the Olympic village in Beijing.

Mr Loeliger has been invited to exhibit his homes at the seventh China International Exhibition for Building Materials Building Systems, Construction and Architecture in China in April.

He is being backed by Ararat Rural City Council which is seeking funding to help him attend the exhibition.

The kit homes consist of semi-circular arches made from eight prefabricated plywood panels bolted together and covered with three layers of insulation. Every home can achieve a five-star energy rating and they are strong enough to withstand wind speeds of up to 200km/h.
