A major afforestation programme will get under way in Pakistan in August.
All the provinces will receive federal government assistance to plant a total of 46.25 million saplings during the Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign 2003.
Emphasising the need for increasing the afforestation rate, the state minister for the environment Maj Tahir Iqbal said an inbuilt monitoring system should be developed to provide feedback on the survival of plants.
