National forest certification schemes from Estonia and the Slovak Republic are being assessed by the Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes (PEFC).
Public consultation on the two systems, the 20th and 21st national PEFC member schemes to undergo the endorsement process, will stay open until May 7. Independent consultant Jaakko Pöyry Management Consulting are undertaking the assessment.
Elsewhere in eastern Europe, national schemes from the Czech Republic and Latvia have already been endorsed, while Poland and Russia are preparing to undergo assessment.
