More than 52 million ha of forests around the world have now been certified under the PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes) mutual recognition umbrella – and the number is still growing.

PEFC has also issued more than 1,200 chain of custody certificates and is working on the development of an international chain of custody document.

The first draft of this document will be available for publication consultation in the spring and it is hoped an international chain of custody standard will be ready for the general assembly in Chile in October.
