The Performance Timber Products Group Ltd has continued its rapid expansion with the acquisition of Sunderland-based John Porter Doors Ltd.
John Porter, a manufacturer of commercial doors, doorsets and associated joinery products, joins the stable of Performance companies which now includes Mumford & Wood, Clearwood UK, TimberWindows.com and Dale Windows.
“The company has a strong reputation in the commercial doors sector and its brand fits well with our existing portfolio of timber building products,” said Roy Wakeman, the Performance Group’s executive chairman.
He said he was particularly pleased to be working with the construction and subcontractor customer bases again through John Porter. “The challenges facing us as a result of falling public expenditure will make for exciting times,” said Mr Wakeman.
He added that John Porter had gained a significant share of the bespoke timber doorset market.
John Porter was founded in 1932 and produces fire-rated doorsets for public buildings in the education, retail, commercial, defence, security and government sectors and is one of six manufacturers approved for the supply of robust internal doorsets in hospitals.
The company relaunched in 2005 with a £1m investment and relocation to Sunderland.
