John Laing Partnerships has instructed the Gamlingay-based company to provide a four-storey timber frame structure on an upper-ground floor transfer podium slab at the site of Springfield Methodist Church in Lambeth.
The development, which will finance the building of a new church building on site, will comprise 21 two-bedroom and seven one-bedroom apartments. The Edwardian façade of the current building is being retained.
Three community rooms will be available for hire by local residents.
Geoff Arnold, Pinewood’s managing director, said timber frame construction would give the scheme environmental, acoustic and thermal insulation benefits.
The project, due for completion in late 2007, is being developed for L&Q Housing Group and its subsidiary Tower Homes.
