Production capacity of a plywood replacement panel product business is being doubled to meet increasing demand.
2K Manufacturing is increasing output of recycled plastic panel EcoSheet at its Luton factory to meet demand from the agricultural sector.
The company claims the product is increasingly being used in the farming industry as animal housing, with major agricultural merchants now stocking EcoSheet including CPF, CFF, Wynnstay and Bridgmans.
Wynnstay Group senior product manager Charlie Hughes said agricultural customers were increasingly looking for products to give a longer service life to keep costs down. He said the EcoSheet lifespan compared with plywood made it very cost-effective while the product could also be washed down and disinfected.
One Devon farmer said red mite numbers had been reduced on his farm after using the plastic product, while another cited the material’s durability as an advantage.
EcoSheet production will increase to 1,300 boards a week, followed by a further doubling in spring next year with the installation of new machinery.
2K Manufacturing has made bold claims of the product’s environmental and sustainability benefits when compared with plywood.
