Canadian telephone pole manufacturer Stella-Jones Inc doubled its profits to C$1m in the first quarter compared with a year earlier.
The company reported sales of C$24.9m, up from C$20.5m in the same quarter of 2003.
Stella-Jones makes pressure-treated wooden poles for electrical utilities and telecommunications firms. Other products include railway ties, marine and foundation pilings and construction timbers.
