The UK prefabricated frame and panel building systems market is expected to grow by more than £250m in the next four years, according to a new report.

AMA Research said the sector, which by product is 50% timber frame, grew by up to 14% last year to an estimated £625m. By 2012 AMA believes this will have risen to £883m.

The market has benefited from the significant increase in construction for single living accommodation and cellular institutions and apartment blocks, AMA said.

“The trend to offsite manufacturing is set to continue in the medium term, driven by steady improvements in design and the need for greater accuracy and speed in the construction programme,” the report said.
