The acquisition, announced today, follows last year’s purchase of Ireland’s oldest timber company – the Brooks Group. Premier said the workforce of Glasnevin-based DPV would be expanded as its operations and activities grow in the coming months.
“The acquisition of DPV in Ireland represents a significant strategic step in broadening Brooks’ product range in timber products and increasing its geographic coverage of Dublin and the rest of the island,” said Terry Edgell, Premier director.
DPV was established in 1946 to supply the Irish furniture trade but has evolved into a wholesale supplier of sheet materials, door cores and laminates to a range of manufacturers and builders merchants.
“I see this as a perfect match in terms of reputation in the sector and opportunities that can be exploited,” added Mr Edgell. John Rooney will remain as managing director of DPV.
“Between both Irish businesses there is 290 years of history in the timber and building materials supplies industry in Ireland,” said Mr Rooney.
“Brooks, through its distribution network, offers us a new market for our Formica and other laminate activities, and access to the group’s extensive range of softwood, hardwood and plywood.”
