Increasing distribution costs have prompted Premier Forest Products Ltd to open a second trading branch.
Based in Andover, Hampshire, it is due to open in March. Company chairman Nigel Williams said: ‘We will have an excellent location to service our customer base and expand our service further.’
Mr Williams says the company’s Newport quay facility is an ideal location to import products but added: ‘Due to expanding logistical costs, we have found it difficult to service the south coast and Home Counties efficiently.’
The facility will stock a wide range of panel products according to purchasing director Terry Edgell. He said: ‘The arrival of Sonae’s Premier Plus Range of melamine faced chipboard and MDF will complement our decorative product range perfectly.
‘We now offer bulk deliveries of hardwood plywood, coniferous plywood, European chipboard and hardboard from our quay facility at Newport.
‘We are trading partners with Louisiana Pacific, Finsa, Vanerply and Pfleiderer. We pride ourselves on the fact that we can offer one sheet or one hundred loads and are constantly striving to improve our service. This facility will give us the push we need into the south-east.’
