A government ban on logging has caused timber prices to more than double and jobs to be lost in the North Rift region of Kenya.
Local members of parliament maintain the ban is having a serious effect on the region’s economy. And they claim the government is discriminatory as it is strictly enforcing the ban in the North Rift region but relaxing it in other parts of the country.
