Wigan-based timber merchant Ramsay Timber & Building Supplies has been awarded Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification.
The company, which serves local authorities, builders merchants and builders across an area from North Wales to Cumbria and the north-east, is one of the few remaining family-run timber merchants in the north-west.
Managing director Graham Ramsay said: “Many businesses need to increase awareness of their environmental impacts. Achieving FSC certification is our way of ensuring that people are made aware of the ecological footprint of timber on world resources, not simply in terms of logging but throughout the entire supply chain.”
