French tropical timber specialist Rougier expects fresh markets to be opened by its new FSC-certified okoumé sawn timber and plywood product lines.
Rougier said it could produce large quantities of the FSC product on a regular basis, with markets in Europe, the US, Latin America, the Middle East and China all being targeted.
Its FSC-certified solid timber offering includes sawn and finish products, while the Okoucent branded okoumé throughout plywood (grade B/BB) is aimed at a wide range of uses including exterior fittings, structures, walls, floors, carpentry, cladding and roofs.
“This new product line will create commercial opportunities for Rougier in markets that are very sensitive to sustainable development,” the company said.
The okoumé is grown in Rougier’s Gabon forest concessions.
