French timber company Rougier’s third-quarter profits were up 18.1% on a like-for-like basis during the third quarter, to reach €45.1m.

Turnover for the first nine months of the year was €132.6m, up 14.7% from the €115.6m recorded a year ago.

Rougier credited much of its third-quarter growth to its Africa and international trade division, where turnover rose 23.8%. Firm sawn timber and plywood sale prices contributed strongly to the peformance.

The traditional summer slowdown in the Distribution France division was more noticeable for sawn timber which registered a very strong growth during the first half of the year.

Sawn timber currently makes up 48% of the group turnover, with logs and plywood recording 31% and 21% shares respectively.
