Around 3,000ha of forest on the royal Balmoral estate has been entered into the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified group scheme operated by Scottish Woodlands Ltd.

The certification has been welcomed by FSC UK director Anna Jenkins who said: “Every forest certified by the FSC is significant but you could say that these are the jewels in the FSC’s UK crown.”

John Dobson, head forester at Balmoral Estate Woodlands, added: “Being FSC certified means that our forests are managed fully in accordance with the UK Woodland Assurance Standard, which fits in well with the aims and objectives of the estate.”
