The UK Timber Frame Association (UKTFA) has been inundated with requests for its Pocket Guide to Timber Frame Construction, described by the timber frame industry as an “essential tool” for erectors.
In less than two months since its publication, more than 8,000 copies from a 20,000 print run of the guide have been requested by construction professionals, including all NHBC and Zurich inspectors.
Both the NHBC and Zurich were involved in the production of the guide. Carl Nelson, technical manager at Zurich, said: “It provides accurate technical information on the spot, allowing any on-site queries to be clarified there and then.”
The guide looks at the complete build sequence and provides an action checklist for each stage. Information covers the substructure and sole plates; insulation; vapour control layer and plasterboard; cavity barriers and fire stops; frame erection; builder work and cavities; installing services; fire; acoustics; and detailing.
Copies of the guide are available from UKTFA members or from the UKTFA site, www.timber-frame.org.
