His demand follows a recent incident when a worker lost all his fingers and the thumb on one hand in a circular saw accident.
Mr Rooney has written to the chief executive of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), which is investigating the accident, asking for a full inquiry.
Bradford’s Telegraph and Argus newspaper used the Freedom of Information Act to find out that there had been 17 accidents at the site, including one fatality, four of which are still under investigation by the HSE.
An HSE spokesperson confirmed that an investigation is under way.
“It isn’t up to us to comment, it is up to the HSE,” said Peter Ramsey, chairman of the company. “We would advise you [TTJ] to contact HSE who will update you on any facts related to this very sad incident.”
