The Samling Group has become the first private company in Malaysia to be awarded a certificate for forest management by the Malaysian Timber Certification Council (MTCC).
Samling has also received an MTCC chain of custody certificate, which will allow the company to supply MTCC-certified products such as plywood, doors, flooring and housing products.
Samling was presented with the certificates at a ceremony in Miri on January 4 attended by the minister of plantation and commodities, forestry officials, buyers and other stakeholders in sustainable forest mangement.
