Net sales rose to SKr4,473m, up from SKr4,209m during the first quarter of 2006, with the company’s operating profit increasing from SKr298m to SKr501m.
This was helped by an increase in the production of sawn timber at existing sawmills and the acquisition of new facilities during the period, most noticably that of Baro Wood.
Södra has also said that more than half of wood felled during storms earlier in the year has now been processed, reducing the potential impact that the bad weather could have had on the company’s operations and earnings.
