SCA reports 2022 annual results

6 February 2023

SCA’s wood division saw a 30% fall in EBITDA in 2022 compared to 2021, which it blamed on lower selling prices and higher costs.

EBITDA was SEK2.07bn (2021: SEK2.96bn) for the year. Deliveries of sawn timber for the full year were down 2% to 2,022,000m3.

Q4 2022 results show EBITDA reduced to SEK129m from SEK850m a year ago.

Net annual divisional sales declined 5% to SEK6.75bn (2021: SEK7.08bn).

“The decline was related to lower selling prices and lower delivery volumes,” the company said. “Exchange rate effects had a positive effect on sales.”

Net sales declined in Q4, 2022 by 24% compared to a year earlier.

SCA’s pulp and containerboard divisions fared better, recording annual EBITDA rises of 41% and 62% respectively, contributing towards record Group earnings for the company - SEK10.19bn.
