An SCA Timber eco initiative to persuade Buildbase customers to switch to paperless invoicing has resulted in a forest of 34,500 trees.
SCA promised to plant 10 trees in its Swedish timber lands for every Buildbase customer who made the change, and, since the launch of the scheme in 2010, 3,450 have signed up.
And in 80 to 100 years when the trees are harvested, said the company, some of the wood will probably find its way back to the UK market.
Buildbase marketing manager Tony Newcombe said the tree planting offer will continue in 2012.
“It saves many different resources, including time for customers,” he said.
