Swedish sawmiller Jämtlamell has signed a UK marketing deal with SCA Timber Supply to supply a range of value-added products.
Scunthorpe-based SCA will now offer Jämtlamell & Backe Trä’s range of standard sawn and value-added window, door, moulding, flooring and panel products.
SCA said Jämtlamell’s capacity to dry 80% of its output down to an 8% moisture content, suitable for furniture and joinery applications, would enable new openings to be created for its custom-specification redwood and whitewood products in the UK.
SCA Timber Supply sales director Stephen King said: “The Jämtlamell ‘Z’s shipping mark is already well know to customers in London and the south-east and we plan to expand their horizons nationwide.”
Jämtlamell & Backe Trä sales manager Anders Andersson added: “SCA can offer us exensive access to the UK market and we look forward to growing our product volumes here.”
The Jämtlamell timber products group has two sawmills and one planing mill in the Östersund area of northern Sweden producing 210,000m3 annually.
