The production of wood products at SCA Timber’s Holmsund sawmill is to be cut by 20% in response to ongoing weak demand.
Production will be curtailed from April 1, 2009, falling from 93,000m³ to 77,000m³. This will affect a number of employees at the site, which currently has 44 sawmill operators.
“We cannot yet tell how many of our employees will be affected and the number of jobs lost,” said sawmill manager Margaretha Gustafsson.
