SCA’s latest trainee group were taken to the company’s forests near Sundsvall in northern Sweden by a party of local venture scouts on their end-of-course visit last weekend.

Team activities included getting five-person teams to move on one pair of long skis and lighting a fire in the traditional way, using an axe to whittle a base of wood chips.

More important lessons were learned under the auspices of SCA’s Hans Forsmark who explained the everyday practicalities of SCA’s approach to ecological management of the forest landscape.

The seven trainees took their course exam at Scaninge’s Bollsta mill and also visited SCA’s Bogrundet tree nursery which produces 50 million saplings per year.
