SCA has completed the acquisition of Scaninge Timber’s sawmills – Bollsta, Graningebruk, Rundvik and Vilhelmina – after getting the green light from the Swedish Competition Authority.
The sawmills, which are now part of SCA Timber, will continue to operate as independent profit centres with responsibility for their own production, product and marketing strategy.
The takeover, which will see management and staff of SCA Timber based in Sundsvall, could result in redundancies and relocations for some staff.
The enlarged SCA Timber operation will have a production capacity of 1.4 million m3 of solid wood products, annual sales of SKr2.8bn and 800 employees.
