Schools situated within one kilometre of Forestry Commission Scotland woodlands are being encouraged to use the forest as an extension of the classroom.

The new Woods for Learning strategy, developed by Forestry Commission Scotland, aims to boost learning opportunities for primary and secondary school children in an outdoor environment.

Launching the project at Fall Hill primary school in West Lothian, Forestry Commission director-general Tim Rollinson said: “Woodlands are great places to learn about our environment and how what we do affects the future.”
