Swedish wood products giant Setra is buying family-owned Rolfs Sag & Hyvieri AB in Kalix.
The latter operates an integrated sawmill and processing business with annual sales of SKr200m and has 80 workers.
“Our aim is to grow through a higher value-added content,” said Kent Torwald, Setra Group chief executive.”Rolfs Sag provides a strategic complement to Setra’s operations in northern Sweden in terms of both skills and capacity for increased value added.”
He added that, working with Setra’s mills in Seskaro and Lovholmen, the Rolfs Sag mill has the potential to double its value added volume in the region.
“We will also gain access to a smooth-functioning purchasing organsiation for local raw material,” he said.
