Setra’s Färila sawmill will be restarted during the first quarter of 2010 with a new and special focus on value-added wood products.
The mill was closed earlier this year against the background of a tough market and negative earnings trend.
“Conditions in the wood products market have changed in a positive direction and today our assessments about the future are cautiously optimistic,” said Setra president and CEO Börje Bengtsson.
Färila will now concentrate on fine-textured and fine-grained Helsinge spruce, with production focused on visible wood products such as glulam, panels and flooring.
A large part of the production will be further processed in other Setra mills, primarily Långshyttan, Valbo and Skutskär.
Annual production will total 100,000m³ of sawn product, compared with 195,000m³ of spruce and pine formerly. Thirty people will be offered employment at the mill.
