William Sharvatt & Son Ltd has moved from its Peckham site in south London to a two and a half acre site in Belvedere, Kent.
The timber and plywood importer and merchant had operated in Peckham since its formation in 1890 but managing director Trevor Keyse said: ‘‘We had expanded the Peckham site to its capacity, so we decided to sell it and buy the freehold of the new place, which is a seven acre business centre with warehousing, in Belvedere.’
All staff relocated with the company and Mr Keyse says more employees will be taken on.
Mr Keyse says there is a possibility the company may expand its mill capacity adding: ‘The mill facility is very important to us for the planing and moulding of softwood.’
