As part of a five-year expansion programme S Silverman and Son (Importers) Ltd has opened a 23,000ft2 branch in Coventry.

The opening, which represents a £500,000 investment, brings the panel products specialist’s branch presence in the UK to six. It also has a distribution point in Manchester.

The latest branch is located at Coventry’s Cross Point business park and is adjacent to junction two of the M6 and M69 which gives it excellent road links.

The branch will be equipped with the latest storage and handling equipment including the Combilift narrow aisle system for picking goods.

Refurbished to match the corporate look of other Silverman depots, the branch will be managed by Charles Simpson who recently joined the company.

Mark Silverman, managing director of S Silverman & Son, said: “I am delighted to be able to add Coventry to our list of Silverman branches and look forward to a successful year in 2003.”

The company’s plans for expansion are geographical and will see the opening of more branches. The current sites are at Andover, Basildon, Borehamwood, Newton Abbot, Wallisdown and now Coventry.

S Silverman & Son was bought by the Timbmet Group last year for an undisclosed sum.
