Chinese forest products company Sino-Forest Corporation has increased third quarter net profits by 56% to US$12.1m.

The foreign-owned Hong Kong listed firm, which recorded net profits of US$7.8m for the same period in 2002, boosted its sales by 37% to US$79.1m.

It said the results were due to a continuing strong performance in its plantation business. Better volumes and stable pricing in wood chips and imported logs also helped.
