Slocan Forest Products Ltd has followed Canfor in pulling out of the Council of Forest Industries (COFI).
The company, beset by both the US softwood lumber duties and a pine beetle infestation, decided to quit the council, the voice of British Columbia’s lumber industry, reportedly to save around C$2m in dues.
Other big industry names are understood to be considering a similar move, including Timber West and International Forest Products.
