Wildfires continue to blacken thousands of acres of brush and forest in southern California, despite thunderstorms providing some relief for firefighters.
Hundreds of homes in the state have been evacuated, although the wildfire has now been 70% contained. “The fire has been unpredictable, but now firefighters are trying to make a stand to attempt to cut off the fire,” said Los Angeles county fire inspector John Mancha.
In eastern San Diego County, an 8,649-acre blaze sparked by illegal fireworks has also been contained, while another fire in Kern County, which burned 625 acres, was also under control.
